What are the main wood flooring species?

The three most popular species for wood flooring would be the following:

Oak

Oak is by far the most popular choice of flooring species. In its normal state it has pale cream and gold tones with a unique grain pattern. It’s a timeless and traditional selection of flooring and will fit any size and style of room. Oak is a relatively hard and durable floor covering and will last for decades if looked after properly. You can even find Oak floors with colour stains inserted to slightly change the color and tone of the ground. Also, keep an eye out for different surface finishes, so these can make a difference to the appearance and texture of the floor.

Walnut

Walnut is a beautiful, dark coloured species of timber. It has deep rich brown tones using a contrasting pale pattern running throughout. As a result, you get a special and very distinctive grain pattern. Walnut is one of the more delicate species of hardwood. Consequently, it does take a little more searching after. It can dent and scratch quite easily, so it is always best to remove outdoor footwear and sweep the floor on a regular basis. Walnut is rarer than Oak, so as a result could be slightly more costly.

Hickory

Hickory flooring is again a darker species of wood. It has distinctive caramel and gold tomes operating throughout, making it easy to fit up to many interior decors. Hickory is a gorgeous and luxurious floor, but what is particularly relevant is its strength and durability. It is one of the most difficult species of wood to wooden floors, so ideal for any active areas.
